Privacy policy

Last updated 13 October 2026

This policy explains how we collect, use and share personal information when you use Precise CV, and how you can exercise your privacy rights.

Who we are

The operator of Precise CV is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy matters at tinystackapps@gmail.com.

Information we collect

  • Account and contact information, such as your email address and account identifiers.
  • CV information, including the CV text and instructions you provide. This may contain your name, contact details, employment history, education, qualifications, skills and other information you choose to include.
  • Usage and technical information, such as your IP address, browser information and activity on the service.
  • Communications and preferences, including enquiries, privacy requests and requests for optional notifications.

We receive information from you, through your use of the service and from providers that help you sign in. We also keep the CV content created when you use the service.

We need account information to provide an account and CV information to provide CV assistance. You choose what information to include in your CV and whether to request optional notifications.

How and why we use your information

We use personal information on the following lawful bases:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the service you request, manage your account and help you create, edit and save your CV.
  • Legitimate interests: to operate and protect the service, prevent misuse, understand website usage and respond to enquiries. These interests are providing a reliable service and protecting our users.
  • Consent: to send optional notifications you request. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing tinystackapps@gmail.com. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing before you withdraw.
  • Legal obligations: to comply with applicable law, including responding to data protection requests.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

Sharing your information

We share personal information with service providers for account authentication, hosting, data storage, analytics, email and AI assistance. These providers process information on our behalf under data processing agreements to deliver their services.

We use OpenAI for AI-assisted CV writing. OpenAI processes your CV content and instructions for this purpose. Your CV content is not used to train AI models.

We may also disclose personal information when required by law.

International data transfers

Some of our service providers process personal information outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. For these transfers, we rely on the safeguards in our providers’ data processing agreements, including standard contractual clauses with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where applicable.

You can request further information or a copy of the relevant safeguards by emailing tinystackapps@gmail.com.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. We determine retention by considering the information involved, why it is needed and any legal requirements.

  • Account and CV information: while your account remains open, unless you remove your content or request deletion sooner.
  • Communications and notification preferences: until we have handled your request or sent the notification you requested, or you withdraw your consent. Related correspondence may be retained where needed to meet legal obligations.
  • Usage and security information: while needed to protect the service, prevent misuse or investigate security issues. We review this need periodically and delete information that is no longer required.

OpenAI may retain submitted content for safety monitoring for up to 30 days, or longer where required by law. Deleted information may remain in backups until their normal retention period expires.

To request deletion of your account or personal information, email tinystackapps@gmail.com.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to support sign-in and account security. These are necessary to provide the service.

Our website analytics do not use cookies. We use aggregated statistics to understand website usage; these do not include your CV content or instructions.

Automated decision-making

We do not make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. AI assistance supports CV writing and does not make hiring decisions about you.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, restrict its use, or receive a portable copy. These rights depend on the circumstances and the lawful basis for processing.

Right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can also withdraw consent where we rely on it.

Contact tinystackapps@gmail.com to exercise your rights. We normally respond within one month and will let you know if a lawful extension is needed.

You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office about how we handle your personal information at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy to reflect changes in our data practices or legal requirements. The date above shows when it was last revised. We will provide appropriate notice of significant changes.
